Create Your Business Page

  • Sign in to your personal LinkedIn account or create a new account.
  • In your navigation bar, click the Work icon and select Create a Company Page.
  • Select Small Business.
  • First, fill out all of your business information.
  • For Industry, select Primary and Secondary Education. This category is the closest relating industry that LinkedIn offers at this time. If a category like Child Care or Child Services is added, we would recommend choosing something that suits your center better!
  • Upload your logo. It’s important to use a high-resolution image that is at least 300 x 300 pixels.

  1. Update your cover photo. The image needs to be high-resolution and sized 1500 x 500 pixels. A large vertical portion of your image will be cropped out so it’s important to experiment with different images. In other words, keep important information towards the center to avoid losing any details.
  2. Edit your profile by hitting the pencil. This section allows you to update your profile photo, tagline and contact information.
  3. Business profiles can now add a call-to-action button. Choose from Learn More, Sign Up, Visit Website or Contact Us. Stay true to your messaging. If you cover photo and tagline are promoting your upcoming summer camp, you should change your button to Sign Up or Learn More, directing them to a specific page on your website. If your page is for general brand awareness, use Visit Website to increase your online traffic.
  4. LinkedIn is a professional tool. Keeping that in mind, you should share articles that apply to your experience as a business owner or to start conversations with other industry leaders. Increasing brand awareness and client acquisition should always remain a goal. However, this is a great platform to network professionally. Share ideas from reputable sources and photos that highlight what makes your center special.
  5. In the updates section, you will see a timeline of your most recent posts. It displays in a way similar to a Facebook feed, with an option to respond to comments.
  6. Select three hashtags that apply to your business. Keep them general so that LinkedIn can curate suggestions and content for you.
  7. Use the Featured Groups section to share what organizations you are involved in. This could be a local group you belong to or a national organization you are a member of, like the American Montessori Society. In addition, add any groups that you are an alumna of. These connections will provide further opportunities to reach out to like-minded professionals.

Using LinkedIn for Business

In general, try to share articles and interact with the people you follow on LinkedIn a few times a week. Users are busiest during the regular work week so there is no pressure to update on the weekends! Take a few minutes each day and check in on your connections and comments. It’s important to connect with colleagues and professionals that you know and trust.
