Elements to Include In Your Visual Style Guide

A style guide will help you create a cohesive, consistent brand for your child care center so you stay relevant and connected to families. Developing the visual component of your style guide is important if you want parents to be able to easily recognize you anywhere.

Building a memorable visual identity that makes parents feel like they know you takes some time and effort, but it’s well worth it. Here are some elements you don’t want to forget in your visual style guide:

Logo Consistency

Your logo represents your unique center and is one of the most important parts of your visual brand. Make sure that your logo is consistent across all platforms, including your website, social media, business cards, and any other marketing materials you might be using. In addition, note the correct usage of your logo with acceptable color variations, sizes and any other details that may change its original design.

Color Palette

Pick what colors you want to represent your center and stick with them. Be sure that your logo and font colors appear clearly on the color palette you choose. A consistent, fun and kid-friendly color theme will make your brand stick out among others so that it becomes recognizable to families.

Typography

Choose fonts that will represent your child care center’s brand and pair well with your logo. It’s important that you apply typography consistently on all of your marketing materials. Include any formatting elements in your style guide as well, such as alignment, spacing or font size.

Imagery

Your imagery’s style, color and content all reflect your brand, whether you’re using photos, illustrations or graphics. Use photos and graphics that communicate your child care center’s family-oriented values. Be sure to indicate a uniform image style, framing and cropping guidelines, color and size to stay consistent across all platforms.
